Travel to the Inca city of Machu Picchu, which is surrounded by sacred mountains that were considered Apus “God” where only priests or select people go to perform religious rituals or offerings, we are talking about Huayna Picchu Mountain or Machu Picchu Mountain. Today, access to these mountains is limited to the number of people for their preservation and care.

Detailed Itinerary: 2 Days and 1 Night Machu Picchu Tours

Day 1: Sacred Valley Tour and Train Ride to Machu Picchu

Our Mundo Mapi team will pick you up at your hotel at 7:30 a.m. to begin the tour of the Sacred Valley of the Incas.

Taray Viewpoint: We will stop at the Taray Viewpoint, where we can enjoy a panoramic view of the vast Sacred Valley.

Pisac: We will then move on to the first place to visit: the archaeological site of Pisac, which includes a visit to the Andean market in the town of the same name. Our buffet lunch will be in the town of Urubamba, at one of the restaurants offering the best presentations of traditional dishes, a New Andean cuisine in the province of Cusco.

Ollantaytambo: After lunch, visit the archaeological site of Ollantaytambo, where the town remains in its splendor from when the Incas left us. You will gain an insight into this religious, military, and cultural center.

Aguas Calientes: 4:36 PM or 7:04 PM. We will board our train at the Ollantaytambo station for the town of Aguas Calientes.

Day 2: Machu Picchu Tour – Huayna Picchu Mountain or Machupicchu

This day you can explore and enjoy the Inca City to the fullest, as you have the entire morning to yourself. After breakfast, you will take the bus as usual. This time, it is highly recommended to be one of the first buses. Upon arriving at the Inca city of Machu Picchu, you will be able to admire and appreciate the spectacular sunrise over Machu Picchu (weather permitting).

Once at the Inca City of Machu Picchu, accompanied by our guide, we will visit the main areas of the Inca city, such as the main temple, the three windows, the famous Intihuatana, plazas, fountains, and stairways. At the end of the guided tour, you will have free time to take the best photos.

Optional Tour: Afterwards, you will take the path to Huayna Picchu Mountain or Machu Picchu Mountain, from where you can appreciate the entire panorama of the great Inca city of Machu Picchu and its surroundings.

At the appropriate time, you must board the bus back to the town of Aguas Calientes, then have time for lunch in town. At 7:00 PM or 6:20 PM, you must take the train back to Ollantaytambo. You must arrive 30 minutes before boarding. When you arrive at the Ollantaytambo station, we will be waiting for you for the transfer to Cusco.

  • Lunch in Machu Picchu and other meals not mentioned in the program.

Extra Visit:

Huayna Picchu Mountain: The INC (Information Technology Institute) at Machu Picchu only allows 400 people to enter, divided into two groups of 200 people at the following times: 7:00 – 8:00 hrs and 10:00 – 11:00 hrs, lasting approximately 3 hours.

Machu Picchu Mountain: Only 400 people are allowed in per day. There is only one schedule due to the distance and time it takes to climb this mountain.

Recommendations during your Machu Picchu Tour:

  • Bring a backpack with a change of clothes for two days.
  • Wear comfortable hiking shoes.
  • Long-sleeved shirts and long pants.
  • Wear warm clothing and rain ponchos during the rainy season (December–April).
  • Bring insect repellent, sunscreen, sunglasses, and wide-brimmed hats during the dry season (May–November).
  • The scenery is magnificent; we recommend bringing binoculars, a camera, or a video camera.
  • Medications and/or personal items.
  • Bring small change of money.
  • Swimwear if you plan to visit the Aguas Calientes hot springs.
  • Water bottle for the trail.
  • Flashlight and extra batteries.
  • Carry an identity document or passport.
