Detailed Itinerary: Tours to Machu Picchu 2 Days and 1 Night
Day 1: Train Ride from Poroy or Ollantaytambo Station
This day, we will pick you up from your hotel early and travel to the Ollantaytambo station, located 2 hours and 30 minutes from the city of Cusco. From there, we will begin our train ride from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes, which lasts 1 hour and 45 minutes. (Request the tour price from both train stations)
Upon arrival in the town of Aguas Calientes, a hotel staff member will be waiting for you to direct you to the hotel.
This is a great day to visit the hot springs in Aguas Calientes. The entrance fee is 10 soles, local currency.
Overnight stay in Aguas Calientes.
Meeting with the guide to coordinate the tour to Machu Picchu. Overnight stay in a hotel in Aguas Calientes.
Tour Includes:
- Hotel pickup
- Tourist transportation
- Transfer to the Poroy or Ollantaytambo train station
- Train ticket from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes or Poroy to Aguas Calientes

Day 2: Tour of Machu Picchu – Huayna Picchu Mountain or Machu Picchu
This day you can explore and enjoy the Inca city to the fullest, as you have free time all morning. After breakfast, you will take the bus just like the previous day. This time, it is highly recommended that you be one of the first buses. Upon arriving at the Inca city of Machu Picchu, you will be able to admire and appreciate the spectacular sunrise over Machu Picchu (weather permitting).
Once at the Inca city of Machu Picchu, accompanied by our guide, we will visit the main areas of the Inca city, such as the main temple, the three windows, the famous Intihuatana, plazas, fountains, and stairways. At the end of the guided tour, you will have free time to take the best photos.
Optional Tour: Afterwards, you will take the path to Huayna Picchu Mountain or Machu Picchu Mountain, from where you can appreciate the entire panorama of the great Inca city of Machu Picchu and its surroundings.
At the appropriate time, you will board the bus back to the town of Aguas Calientes, after which you will have time for lunch in town. At 7:00 PM or 6:20 PM, you must take the return train to Ollantaytambo. You must arrive 30 minutes before boarding the train. When you arrive at the Ollantaytambo station, we will be waiting for you for the transfer to Cusco.

Extra Visit: Huayna Picchu Mountain: The Machu Picchu INC only allows 400 people to enter, divided into two groups of 200 people at the following times: 7:00 – 8:00 hrs and 10:00 – 11:00 hrs, for a duration of approximately 3 hours.
Machu Picchu Mountain: Only 400 people are allowed to enter per day. There is only one time slot due to the distance and time it takes to climb this mountain.
Recommendations during your tour to Machu Picchu:
- Bring a backpack with a change of clothes for 2 days.
- Wear comfortable hiking shoes.
- Long-sleeved shirts and long pants.
- Wear warm clothing and carry rain ponchos during the rainy season (December–April).
- Bring insect repellent, sunscreen, sunglasses, and wide-brimmed hats during the dry season (May November).
- The scenery is magnificent; we recommend bringing binoculars, a camera, or video camera.
- Medications and/or personal items.
- Bring cash in small amounts.
- Swimwear if you plan to visit the Aguas Calientes hot springs.
- A water bottle for the trip.
- A flashlight and extra batteries.
- Bring an ID or passport.
