TRAVEL ITINERARY – MACHU PICCHU TOURS 6 DAYS

Day 1: Arrive to Cusco.

Cusco imperial tours start when you arrive to Cusco before noon. However we must know your flight details for your reception and transfer to your hotel and to give you the briefing about the trip. In the afternoon you will have city tour that commence at 1:30 pm. We pick you up from the hotel and depart on a guided city tour, where tourist have the opportunity to visit 6 places (entrance to the archaeological centers and museums including) we will visit the Main square, the Cathedral, the Koricancha (temple of the sun) and in addition we will make a route bordering archaeological centers like Sacsayhuaman Fortress, Q'enko, Puka Pukara and Tambomachay, tour finishes 6:30pm approximately at the main square in order you can take dinner in one of the exquisite restaurants in the area, then overnight. (No meals included)

Day 2: Sacred Valley of the Incas.

The tour starts at 8:30am; when we pick you up from your hotel and head to the fertile valley for a full day tour. The valley is renowned for its excellent climate, fertile lands and the waters of the sacred river called by the Incas as a Willkamayu (sacred river) nowadays is named Vilcanota that, in the town of Urubamba the river changes its name to the Urubamba River and it is tributary of the amazon river which go until Atlantic ocean. The sacred valley is embraced between the towns of Písac and Ollantaytambo, and has wonderful landscapes where its inhabitants, native of the Quechua ethnic group, conserve many customs, traditions and ancestral rites. It is an area where you can appreciate the high technological development that the Inca reached in terms of agriculture through the "andenería" systems (platform terraces). These systems are still in use today and show sophisticated designs of hydraulic engineering for irrigation purposes. They were also outstanding adoration centers to the Pachamama (or mother earth).

Day 3: Machupicchu tour.

After breakfast we leave the hotel at 5:30am and you will be transfer to the train station of Ollantaytambo and take the tourist train for 2 hours to Aguas Calientes town and then we take bus up to Machupicchu and start exploring it with an experienced guide; the tour will be for 2 hours approximately and then you will have extra time to explore by yourself. In the afternoon we will take the train and return through the Urubamba Valley to Cusco and transfer to your hotel; we arrive to Cusco late in the evening.

Machupicchu historic sanctuary, is located in Cusco towards the southern part of Peru, on top of the mountain which belongs to Vilcanota mountain range it is located at 2400 meter about see level; it is an important center of the Incas and South America; with its archeological and architectonic beauty, its natural surroundings and its magical landscape between Andean mountains and rain forests; its tropical climate does make this town a beautiful place where you will find mother nature and the best place to relax and absorb natural energy.

Machupicchu was discovered by American Mr. Hiram Bingham at 1911, in the ancient times was considered religious center and astronomical observatory center, also it was a penetration point towards the Amazonian jungle, visited in that time only by the highest class of the Inca empire; we still can see nowadays the trail that connect Cusco with Machupicchu running through magnificent mountain scenery.

Day 4: Tour to Maras Moray.

We pick you up from your hotel at 9:00am in our private transport and head to Maras village, through very typical populations and beautiful landscapes that we will be able to enjoy in our route, arrival and visits the following places:

MARAS: Located in the province of Urubamba to 3300masl. Then we will be able appreciates the snow-caped mountain range of the Vilcanota and summits: The Chicón (5500m) and the Veronica" (5750m). At the east present time attractive colorful town guard of the pre-Hispanic, colonial and republican period, emphasizing in the town colonial streets and covers with shields of the noble and caciques of centuries XVII.

MORAY: One is to about 7 km to the southwest of Maras; it is unique archaeological group in its sort in the region. It is about enormous terraces that are superposed concentrically in a gigantic hole, these beautiful terraces that served at the Inca time like an agricultural laboratory "Prototype as Conservatory" in which old Quechuas or Incas experienced and obtained improvements. Place where incredible advances in agriculture were obtained.

SALINERAS or "SALT MINES": Located to the northwest of the town of Maras are constituted for about 3000 small wells with an area average of about 4 mts², operated from the Inca time, Colonial time and that even continues being exploded by the villagers. They indicate that the mountain has in its interior salt mines, a spring of salt water that arise from this mountain, serves during the time of drought to fill to the wells in form of "irrigation" every 3 days with salt water during a month, so that it is solidified gradually, then has the process for the consumption of the region.

Day 5: Tour to Tipon and Pikillacta.

Today we travel in our private transport toward the southern region of Cusco City through magnificent mountain scenery and we are visiting the following places.

TIPON, are Inca agricultural centrum. Still today, water is rushing though the channels, which is seldom, and the wide terraces, masterpieces of mortar-less walls, are in perfect condition. Tipon was a center for the worship of water. The irrigation system was unusual in that it featured deep, vertical channels in the terrace walls. The system was fed by a natural spring from the sacred mountain known as Pachatusan which flows to this day.

PIQUILLAQTA, Piki Llaqta (City of fleas), is a large pre-Inca Archealogical site belong to the period of Wary culture; this is a huge sprawling site, interesting because it is the only ruin of a pre-Inca city in the Cusco region. The Wary civilization emerged in the central highlands near present-day Ayacucho, flourished around 1000 AD, and may ultimately have been overwhelmed by the Incas.

RUMICOLCA, Very important stone quarry used during the Inca times from where the stones were transported to Cusco for the construction of the temples and palaces.

ANDAHUAYLILLAS, At this place we will visit the picturesque village of Andahuaylillas, whose famous colonial church is known as the "Sistine Chapel of the Americas" because of its beautiful painted ceiling and other art treasures.

Day 6: Depart Cusco.

Depart Cusco at any time; we transfer you to the air port
