Day 1: Arrive to Cusco.
Arrive in Cusco at any time. However we must know your flight details for the reception and transfer to your hotel. Today there are no planned activities so enjoy the city; you can do optionally our city tour program and enjoy the enchanting sites of this colonial town. Cusco city attracts travellers who come not just to visit a unique destination but also to experience an ancient culture very different from their 20th century way of life; Cusco city was the capital of the Tawantinsuyo and this was the entire territory of the Incas between the XII and XVI century. Cusco means female navel, because the Incas thought that Cusco was the center of the Universe. It is located at 3400 meter above sea level where 300,000 inhabitants live actually. At Cusco there are numerous colonial churches one of the city's most common sights is the Cathedral located at the main square which was started in 1560 and took 94 years to build where we still can see over 400 canvases from the Cusco painting school of XVI and XVII century most of them belongs to the famous Cusquenian artist Diego Quispe Tito; the cathedral is also one of the city's greatest repositories of colonial art. The main ruin within is that of the Coricancha, once the Inca Empire's richest temple. Today the ruin forms the base of the colonial church of Santo Domingo. During Inca times this temple was literally covered with gold, but within months of the arrival of the first conquistadors this incredible wealth had all been melted down. It is left to the individual imagination to imagine the magnificence of the original structure. There are several good museums in Cusco like: the Archaeological Museum, Inca museum, art museum, the Regional History Museum and the Religious Art Museum.
Day 2: Sacred valley of the Incas.
Full-day guided tour of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. We pick you up from your hotel at 8:30am and head to the fertile valley for a full day tour. The valley is renowned for its excellent climate, fertile lands and the waters of the sacred river called by the Incas as a Willkamayu (sacred river) nowadays is named Vilcanota that, in the town of Urubamba the river changes its name to the Urubamba River and it is tributary of the amazon river which go until Atlantic ocean. The sacred valley is embraced between the towns of Písac and Ollantaytambo, and has wonderful landscapes where its inhabitants, native of the Quechua ethnic group, conserve many customs, traditions and ancestral rites. It is an area where you can appreciate the high technological development that the Inca reached in terms of agriculture through the "andenería" systems (platform terraces). These systems are still in use today and show sophisticated designs of hydraulic engineering for irrigation purposes. They were also outstanding adoration centers to the Pachamama (or mother earth). We are going to spend the night at a nice hotel in Ollantaytambo town.

After the tour you will have free time to explore or climb the famous mountain of Wayna Picchu (check availability) or you can hike to the Sun gate. Late in the afternoon we board the train back through the Urubamba valley to Cusco. You will then be transferred to your hotel.
